Shakespeare’s Birthday

A couple of days ago, April 23rd , I blipped about St George and Shakespeare.  I mentioned then that they hold a little birthday celebration in the town this weekend, and indeed they did.

We didn’t actually see much of the celebrations as we didn’t get into town until later this afternoon.  We were busy preparing food for tomorrow’s lunch when we have guests, and then we had to pick Emma up from Leamington.

The real birthday flags had been hoisted (is that the right word?) along the length of Bridge Street, Stratford’s main thoroughfare, and so I thought I’d take a picture; the flags I showed on the 23rd actually decorate the deck of the Baguette Barge on the canal basin.

I made a nice pasta bake for tea then we caught up with yesterday’s Masterchef final.  Incidentally, the extra picture is the main components of tomorrow's lunch, Butternut Squash and Chick Pea roast.  The roasted squash flesh is added to the mixture and the whole lot baked in a loaf tin.
