Houses of Wilmington #34

This is the Hashagen House at 517 Orange Street in the Wilmington Historic District.  The architect was Henry Bonitz and the builder was Luhr Vollers.  It't a Queen Anne style house built for Frederick Ernest Hashagen (1855-1932), partner in a wholesale grocers firm, with his wife, Minnie Gardner.  It was purchased in 1931 for rental by neighbor, Robert Stone from Little River, South Carolina, a marine railroad owner.  It remained in the family until 1968.  It now serves as the Blue Heaven B&B.
