Apple Blossom

The abundant blossom spells lots of Discovery apples this year - with luck. The trees have fairly compact growth and do not overwhelm the garden. The variety is supposed to be resistant to scab but I have had to cut off some scabby bits sometimes. I blame the rather wet clay soil for that - not ideal for apple trees. However, given enough ripening summer sun, it is great to pick an apple straight from the tree and devour it there and then. So good!
