... in atmosphere at the travelling fair.

I don't think it helps when the local authority closed the roads around the site, for repairs, in the evenings when families normally flock to enjoy the rides. It might liven up later but, the rides were mostly silent and still, making my original aim of photographing moving lights a non-starter.
