Dutch Skies

A splash of red...

A tiny splash of red near the breakwater at Moddergat, Frisia, The Netherlands.

I have a thing for the Wadden Sea and especially the area near the village of Moddergat.  Translated literally, Moddergat means "mud hole" and that's quite a suitable name for this location. So when my good friend Herman contacted me to tell he had some new gear that needed testing, it was quickly decided that Moddergat would be our destination! When we arrived, the sky looked very promising and we immediately starting shooting.

The air carried the sound of the music from a band performing in the village. Not our musical taste, but that certainly didn't stop us from having a great time. Hours flew by and we continued shooting until way after sunset. The red glow in the sky kept us behind our tripods until it was finally time to leave. It wasn't until midnight when I returned home...
