a lifetime burning

Where the Bee sucks ...

Tiny Tuesday: Bee's Tongue

Where the bee sucks, there suck I.
In a cowslip’s bell I lie.
There I couch when owls do cry.
On the bat’s back I do fly
After summer merrily.
Merrily, merrily shall I live now
Under the blossom that hangs on the bough.

Ariel from "The Tempest"

I couldn't resist that quote - I studied the Tempest along with King Lear at A Level back in the 70's and I've loved its poetry ever since.

The bees were up early this morning, enjoying the cat mint as they always do.  So much so, that this one made this shot much easier than it ought to have been.  As you can see, with a bit of fill in flash I have been partially able to silhouette the bee against the low morning backlight to highlight its long tongue.  Sadly I couldn't find any trace of the faerie Ariel in the garden this morning ...
