Summer Loving

A sign of summer when the gorgeous burnished blue-green banded demoiselle is seen flitting daintily over the water. Caught here on the overhanging grass waiting for his prey to fly past in the sunlight or just to watch Tilly and me perched on a fisherman's pontoon idly watching the river.

Britain's largest damselfly is a common sight down by the Severn in the summer months, liking fast-flowing water and muddy bottoms. It's eyes are more wide spaced than a dragonfly's but like dragons they catch small insect prey on the wing and have a specialised leg for perching on vegetation. They cannot walk on land.

Hand held, SOOC with just a crop so I was pleased :)
