a lifetime burning

Autumn's golden gown

Mono Monday:  Autumn

"I sense Autumn coming on
The mist has hung low all day
Small birds gather on the wing
Preparing to make their way.

The trees begin to show
A trace of brown among the green
Bringing back the memories
That only you and I have seen.

I sense Autumn coming on
The sun sinking red and deep
The fires burning in the fields
As late Summer falls asleep.

The leaves begin to scatter
As the North wind calls their name
Folding gently back into
The silent earth from which they came."

The Strawbs - Autumn

Its not Autumn yet, but it is in today's Mono Monday challenge courtesy of  Irunlykagirl.  I actually rather like Autumn, I'm ready for the change it brings as Summer gets tired, and to quote Dave Cousin's lyrics above, falls asleep.   Today's challenge also gives me a chance to enjoy one of my favourite song lyrics and to whisper a quick prayer that Dave (the lead singer and principle lyricist of the Strawbs) makes a speedy recovery, as he's not well at the moment.

The extras are a couple of macro shots of the lovely flowers that my brother Brendan and sister-in-law Sarah brought for Cathy yesterday.
