Another day, another bridge ...

Today we crossed the Tamar Bridge, built in 1961. Here it's viewed from the Devon side looking towards the Cornwall bank. To its left is the Royal Albert Bridge, designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel, and opened in May 1859 by Prince Albert. Later that year, Brunel died and his name was added above the portals in his honour. The railway lines that this bridge supports curve left to cross the viaduct (inset left). The 20th century toll bridge for vehicles also has a pedestrian lane. Inset right is the view through the car windscreen as we crossed.

As you can see from the 'milk of magnesia' sky, it's been another dull day - and very, very windy. When are we going to see some summer weather?!
