West Window, Southwell Minster

A lightning dash to Leicester this morning to visit the bank, and then this afternoon, a drive to Southwell Minster in Nottinghamshire to see this year's Masters of Vision exhibition.

I cannot recommend it highly enough. If you had aspirations as a landscape photographer, this exhibition would make you think again. It features the winning print from last year's Landscape Photograph of the Year competition, 'Beginning and End,' by Mark Littlejohn.

Also a whole series of vignettes by Julian Calverley taken on his iPhone with Instagram. The pictures are exquisite. I wish I knew how he'd processed them. He has printed them on Hahnemuhle bamboo paper, a matt photographic paper. His book, 'iPhoneOnly,' is on sale in the cathedral bookshop for £20. I bought a copy.

Ah, the book tells me he has used an iPhone 4 and an iPhone 5S. He processes the photos in Snapseed and then exports them to Instagram. That's All!

Valda Bailey is also exhibiting. She has a background in painting and it shows. She uses ICM (Intentional Camera Movement) and multiple exposure.

The exhibition is only on until 23rd August. Entry is free and the Minster is open from 8 am to 7 pm. Do go if you can.

Oh, this is the West Window of the Minster, a piece of art in its own right.
