holiday (day 4)

Our day for traveling home from Tiree.

A lunchtime flight. It was 40 minutes on an 18 seat Twin Otter (see extra shot). Take off speed 130kph (slower than Dr D Drives on the autobahn). No cabin crew - the co-pilot did the safety briefing and helped with cabin bags.

There's no door between the cabin and the cockpit, so we could see everything the pilots did. We could even check that they were properly lined up with the runway for landing.

Stunning views on either side of us - cruising height is about 7,000 ft.

Well, the adventure is over.

The Blip is another machair shot. I was waiting for Dr D while she bought some gifts and they were cutting hay in the field opposite. The machair is full of wildflowers at this time of year, so that on top of the "normal" haymaking smells was just amazing.

The crofter was busy pulling up a few weeds - presumably unsuitable for the sheep/cattle to eat. A real islander...
