Giving way to sail

During last night's Baird of Bute dinner Chris Markwell had to announce that the flying events due to take  place today were being  cancelled because of anticipated bad weather.   This is the first time since the events started 2010 that a complete  cancellation has been necessary but it was obvious when I woke at 7.00 that it had been the right decision as the wind had risen and it was starting to rain.

By 11.00 when we arrived at Rhubodach to get the ferry back across to Colintraive it was pouring but two yachts in full sail were on their way up the Kyles.   The ferry had to wait for the second of them to pass and I liked the image with the cloudy hills behind this narrow little strip of water - the shortest car ferry route in Scotland.
