Life through the lens...

Reached the top!

I haven't felt so shattered for a long time!
The 8.5 mile walk from Askwith ( Near Ilkley) over Denton Moor, down to the Washburn Valley, and then up again, and back down to Askwith, felt more like 10 miles, and some said it was 9.
I have had a soak in the bath, and feel a little better!

This is photo is of our walking friends ( 15 today) on the top of Denton Moor. An easy part of the walk, on a proper path!
The weather was dull all day, and not good for taking views.
You can see the " Golf Balls" of Menwith Hill in the distance.
RAF Menwith Hill, is an integral part of the US  DOD world-wide communications network.
Its primary mission is to provide intelligence support for UK, US and allied interests.

This was not an easy walk. Paths missing. Walking across difficult fields, all up and down. Through a field of cows with their young, and a bull!
( Fortunately they kept well away from us.)
Over 20 plus stiles. Some very difficult. ( See extra photo of MrC being helped by S. )
Through many gates, some of which were padlocked or tied up, so we had to climb over.
Met one very nasty farm girl. We asked the way through the farm yard. It was blocked with metal fencing, ( had to climb over) before we could reach the gate out.
To top it all, dear 87 year old B. wasn't feeling well. We had only done about a mile when she said she felt sick.
However when we had got some food inside her she felt much better, and completed the walk with the rest of us, and had a shandy with us in the pub later.
We are all worrying about her. She is so thin, and we don't think she is eating properly.

Forgive me if I don't comment tonight.
I don't think I will be awake for the start of Downton Abbey either!
Hope I feel better after a good nights sleep!
