Solstice Scallop

So today we were a couple of old hippies. We got up at 3am and left a houseful of snoring youth and went over to Aldeburgh to see the sunrise.

In fact, the sun rising over one of the last places in England where it wasn't pouring with rain. WIN.

I love Maggi Hambling's Scallop (and have blipped it before ). We lay on the shingle underneath it and watched the sky lighten and the seagulls start squawking and suddenly there day was - as good and as fresh and as spanking new as the many millions of solstices that have preceded it.

Then we went home to bed
