Conservation Panorama

From left to right:

Old Royal High School - much abused during 1970s-standard fit-out for proposed Parliament, now offered conservation with a massive price - conversion to a luxury hotel (events vemue) with six-storey residential wings attatched.

Centre near foreground - new-ish council HQ with insultingly awful 'common man' statue on a scaffolding plinth outside. Behind that, New Waverley (Caltongate as was) - hotels, retail, pubs blah blah...

Centre right mid-distance - the spire of St Philips, Portobello-Joppa - roof restored and interior improved after a catastrophic fire on 3 December 1998.

Centre distance - across the bay beyond St Philips' Spire - the massive bulk of the remains of Cockenzie Power Station the twin stacks of which were demolished two weeks ago.
