Apple Bobbing

It's a few days short of Samhain, or Halloween. The latter has a tradition of apple bobbing, and today's walk took us along the riverside where an old apple tree had cast down it's burden into the swift flowing Little Avon.

There are many untended apple trees in the parts. Some are beside the main line where, as the train slowed as it approached the now-closed station, folk would too out their cores into the adjacent hedgerows. This one perhaps came of a fisherman's lunch many years ago.

And now it's afternoon and the forecasted rain is here. Time to relax.
