People at Work #5 : : Rethink Possible

OilMan is old school when it comes to  phone company allegiances and AT&T has been around in some form for as long as I can remember. When we moved here, we were told that there was no AT&T service to our house,

But Natalie at the AT&T store told us otherwise after consulting her all knowing tablet device, so Sage appeared at our door and wound up spending all afternoon here hunting under our house for a line that was supposed to exist but appeared to stop somewhere outside or under the house. He was quite good natured about some of the tight spaces into which he had to squeeze his very tall lanky frame.

I caught this picture of Sage after he ran a line into the house and moved our wifi modem into the television console so that the signal wouldn't have to travel through four walls only to die by the time it reached the living room. The final step was for him to get some kind of authorization to connect our phones and computers to the cable.

It was interesting that hSage had to go through the same annoying menu, 'hold music' and robotic voices that we do.   While he was waiting for someone to come back with the magic number he needed,  I told him I was surprised that the didn't have a few more chops as a technician than we do as mere customers, then looked at his shirt and said, "rethink possible" which appeared over the AT&T logo on it. He replied that I was one of the few people who had ever appreciated the irony of that slogan….

OilMan is now a happy camper because we can bundle all our phone, television and computer services into one bill and save quite a lot of money. I'm a happy camper because I liked Sage, who was pleasant to have around and gave us his phone/text number in case we needed his services.
