Pictorial blethers

Still life

Today was so cold and grey and foggy - and then cold and grey and wet - that I feel driven to post a photo of something more cheerful. So here is my somewhat depleted fruit bowl, into which we've been dipping frequently out of an inner need for vitamin C, along with the nutcracker that lives there. The bowl isn't a bowl at all, but a large wooden platter that I bought from a woodworker on Arran several years ago. I love it.

I shall post an extra, contrasting photo - the view at 4pm from the Toward shore across to Bute, where you can see the lights of Rothesay in the gloom. Beyond, the Arran hills are snowy and have almost vanished against the cloud of the same colour.
