The Weir

We took Merlin for a walk down to the weir that collapsed just before last Christmas, it was interesting to see the change. It was hard going for both of us, with Merlin lying with his head hanging over the end of his bed and me with my legs feeling rather stiff. The distance from the car to the weir and back was no more than a mile and a half but the month of inactivity has taken its toll.

The extra was taken from a slightly different viewpoint last March and shows that the level of the river bed has dropped for some way behind the weir, much of the shingle bank has washed away, a few trees that grew in it have fallen over and the water now flows this side of the bank instead of behind it. Some of these details are a little difficult to make out in the pictures.

The two pictures also show that I have a lot to learn about colour balance.
