Just back from art critic and curator Clare Henry’s Christmas party in Glasgow.

As you would expect there were plenty of artists there and one of the most striking outfits I saw was that worn by international textile designer, Jilli Blackwood,  (pictured –left- with Clare).
Jill designed the tartan outfits for the Commonwealth games in Glasgow. Another of her projects involved covering Heathrow in tartan to mark St. Andrews Day and the debt we owe to Scottish pioneers from McAdam,( inventor of tarmac), Graham-Bell ( telephone) and Logie-Baird ( television) to name but  few.

Clare and her husband Phillip Bruno, art collector and former art director of the Marlborough gallery, spend half their time in New York and half in Glasgow.

The party was a trip down memory lane for me because there were lots of folk there I had interviewed years ago when I worked as a journalist in the city and in those days Clare was the paper’s art critic.

Today she has her own blog- clarehenry-artjournal.
