Kitchen Garden

Even in darkness,
tiny shoots cannot resist
the light’s siren call.

When I took the last carrot out of the refrigerator yesterday afternoon, the minuscule leaves on its top were waxy yellow and barely visible. Ever the optimist when it comes to kitchen gardens, I put the carrot top in a tiny dish, spooned some water in, and left it by a nearby window.

Today I had my reward. (Too bad I can't apply it my Blipfuture pledge!)
