My Great Success Story

Petronas

On the 30th we left Phuket Town for the airport and caught a plane to Kuala Lumpur. It was a travel day and in all the excitement I didn't manage to take a single photograph!

We stayed in a well rated hostel inside the golden triangle in Kuala Lumpur, it was a well run place with nice common areas but the rooms were pretty rubbish and we were surrounded by various clubs, making it hard to get some needed sleep!

When we woke up got out of bed I dragged Courtney out to walk through the city towards the Petronas towers. I wanted to go up onto the Bridge but this turned out to be a pretty hard thing to acheive with lines forming before the building even opens.

Instead we wandered through the shopping centre below the towers. It was very English, it even had an M&S. It made me feel quite at home! This is just one of the many things that displayed Kuala Lumpurs mix between European and Asian influences, left over from being a commonwealth member.

After this we went to the nearby Aquariam. It was huge, with a long shark tunnel with an escalator! Yes, an escalator.

Later on we wandered across to Little India, past some very colonial cricket ground and into Chinatown. We caught the KL Skytrain back to our Hostel to grab our stuff, go back on the skytrain and get a taxi to my parent's friend, Lini's, place outside of the city centre. The taxi driver seemed confident at first and after a lot of driving around various neighbourhoods, started to get panicky. By a few phone conversations with Lini's son, I managed to guide the driver to the Condominum.

Lini's place was amazing! It had about 5 floors, with a lift!! She gave us a really lovely room, with an ensuite bathroom and made us feel really at home.
