Pictorial blethers

Pre-Lenten

This crazy rhododendron is in the grounds of Holy Trinity church, Dunoon, and I have learned to associate its flowering with the season of Lent. This year it's surely crazily early - I noticed it this morning as I headed back to the car from a meeting in the Rectory, and despite a biting wind with the beginnings of the rain that has battered us all afternoon I had to put down my case and take its photo.

It's grown tall and leggy in the years I've known it, and I notice that the telegraph wires running past it have acquired what I assume is some kind of protective sleeve in this very tree-ish environment.
