Pictorial blethers

It will be Spring soon ...

Yes, it's a chilly sunset (a biting NE wind had driven cloud onto our hills all day), but this photo was taken at 5pm and the sun had just gone. Joy!

The title comes from the middle of Philip Larkin's poem "Coming" - and I'm so aware that this is an English spring, a spring further south than my chilly sky evokes. But I'm posting it here because it's one that often comes to mind ...

Coming
On longer evenings,
Light, chill and yellow,
Bathes the serene
Foreheads of houses.
A thrush sings,
Laurel-surrounded
In the deep bare garden,
Its fresh-peeled voice
Astonishing the brickwork.
It will be spring soon,
It will be spring soon —
And I, whose childhood
Is a forgotten boredom,
Feel like a child
Who comes on a scene
Of adult reconciling,
And can understand nothing
But the unusual laughter,
And starts to be happy.
