Glenshee

I enjoyed a morning at my U3A Photography Group, but it did seem like such a waste to be indoors on a beautiful sunny day.

After lunch, I persuaded my husband (who was keen to do some gardening) to drive me up to Glenshee, as the snow there is likely to disappear as it warms up this week.  It was so beautiful with the deep snow against the blue sky and the ski resort was packed with cars.  Lots of people on the slopes and in the ski lifts enjoying what might be their last chance of skiing here this year.  (See extra).

We stopped at the Glenshee Pottery on the way home, only to find the tea room and shop had been taken over by new owners and there were lots of changes inside.  The scones are still delicious, but, as yet, there is no shortbread to buy to take home - a sad loss!  It's now called the "Wee House of Glenshee", which I hope won't be misunderstood by foreign visitors:-).

Another sad loss we discovered further down the road was the damage to the Bailey Bridge over the Blackwater, where I had often stood to take photos of the lovely falls.  The raging waters earlier in the year had washed away the supports and the bridge collapsed into the river very dramatically - with a JCB still on it!!!  Because of the nature of a JCB, it was able to claw its way out of danger, an option not open to any other vehicle.  Work is in hand to repair the damage, but it will be many months before the road is open again.

The gardening will have to wait for another day, as my husband decided to wash the cars instead when we got home!
