Nike Run Club Special, Wembley

My Thursday nights are usually spent in Stratford doing speed training sessions with Nike Run Club. But tonight was something a little different, a bit special.

We had been told by Rory, our NRC Coach, to be vigilant on the Nike events booking page, as something was coming. Fortunately I was able to keep checking the website and noticed quickly when the event went live. I promptly booked my place which was just as well because it reached capacity within a day.

As to what the special event was, all we knew was it was at Wembley Stadium.

After arriving at the 3rd level of Club Wembley (where all the FA Offices and corporate hospitality suites are located) we were signed in, given refreshments and allowed to check in our bags. Then we were informed part of what was instore; the new England football kit was launched today, shortly before we arrived, and we were getting a chance to see it in person and not only that we all received a free England shirt in either home or away colour. Pretty amazing.

Not only that but after being led down to the England teams physio area we were ushered into the changing room where Manchester City and England footballer Raheem Sterling and England team physio Steve Kemp were waiting for a Q&A session.

Then we were led on our speed training session by Coach Knight both outside and inside Wembley Stadium. We even did our warm down drills around the outside of the pitch.

What a fantastic day. The only slight downer was I may have tweaked my hamstring which is not ideal with the North London Half Marathon on Sunday. We'll see how it feels over next few days.
