Bowood 2016 #4 (Sunday 27th March 2016)

After the crowds of Friday's official opening (apparently it had opened unofficially two days earlier) it was mercifully emptier on Easter Sunday. People had presumably been deterred by the intermittent heavy showers but the sun came out between them, and I only got caught out by one downfall. I took refuge in the Grotto.

This time I did see a grey heron flying along the Lake and the pair of buzzards were again in evidence (one being mobbed by a crow) and I was able to explore the grounds in relative peace and quiet.

This time I went anti-clockwise so began with Tractor Ted's Little Farm and photographed the pony and the pygmy goats in the new outdoor paddocks before visiting the garden terraces at the start of my walk, where I shared the view with this stone lady.

In the distance you can see the part of the Lake one can reach on a public footpath in the opposite direction, from Mile Elm. The blip of the sheep and lamb I posted the previous Tuesday was taken near to that clump of trees.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
The Smiths - Half A Person (recorded October 1986)
My LOTD's have to have something to do with the day and I do try to avoid old favourites in favour of fresher discoveries. This is a lost old favourite because I've always loved its dark lyric but didn't know the song title and so never played it until I rediscovered it by chance when played on the radio. There are many Smiths jewels to be found buried on the B-sides of their singles and this was on the back of Shoplifters Of The World Unite and later included on the compilation Louder Than Bombs. They had a way with titles.
