TINY TUESDAY

Many years ago, when our two sons were much younger, we were on holiday in Budleigh Salterton.  It was our daily treat to go into the little café in the High Street for coffee and a toasted teacake - most of the time when we had been down to the beach skimming stones, because it could be quite cold in April.

On this particular day, after we had had our hot drink, we were walking back to where we were staying and passed a jeweller’s shop;  in the window we saw this beautiful little silver ornament.  Knowing it was Mr. HCB’s birthday very soon and him being a keen bird watcher, I persuaded him to walk on - but can’t remember how I did it!  Anyway, Martyn, Jules and I managed to go into the shop, buy the ornament and then meet Mr. HCB with innocent looks on our faces.

When his birthday arrived, Mr. HCB was delighted with his gift and probably to this day, he is the only one in the family to have seen a kingfisher, although if my boys are reading this, they may tell me differently.  The ornament is only 35 cm high so definitely qualifies for Tiny Tuesday.

As we are getting older, decluttering is the thing uppermost in our minds, but this little ornament won’t be going anywhere!

It isn’t the size of the gift
     that matters,
but the size of the heart
               that gives it.
