Life's Little Moments

Snow - oh no!

A bit of an unwelcome surprise to look out and see snow on the ground this morning ... I hadn't covered anything in the garden so some of the daffodils are looking a bit worse for the wear, and it remains to be seen if the cherry trees will bear fruit this year.  If you look closely at this shot, you can see snow on the branch - it actually looked kind of nice with the complimentary white blossoms.  The dark-eyed junco, one of our winter species, was a nice bonus.  The juncos will be leaving soon, heading to their northern breeding grounds.

Another unwelcome surprise was realizing that I'd had a bear-raid sometime in the overnight hours.  One suet cage was missing and the other was neatly flattened.  My fault for not bringing them in last night, but still annoying.

It warmed up today just enough for a very cold rain  and tonight our temps are expected to go well below freezing.  With that in mind, I went out and cut all of the remaining daffodils and some of the hyacinth and now have vases of lovely flowers in the house.  I'll cover the primroses and English daisies tonight and hope for the best.  It is going to be cold for the next few days - spring is so fickle!

Counting the days until I leave for a long-awaited blip-meet in Florida next week.  Birds, gators, bats, monkeys and who knows what else!  Not to mention warm temps.

An otherwise uneventful day on the Lane.  Two other pics on Flickr:
