Even more event preparation

Next week we deliver a two-day training event for PhD students. This PowerPoint slide will be displayed on campus on Tuesday and Wednesday.

It's a while since I have had the responsibility of planning the programme, marketing the provision, booking rooms and catering, dealing with speaker and delegate enquiries, making badges, creating delegate packs and so on for such an event. I think the last time would have been in the run-up to a conference that I hosted at the British Library on 9th July 2012 (with my very special keynote speaker). Anyway, I had forgotten just how much time that all this takes. Fortunately this afternoon I had a little team of assistants who helped produce content for the delegate packs and then put all the goodies together in the folders. (You can probably guess who my helpers were...)

In the midst of all this I dealt with emails (including gracefully turning down one with an invitation to chair a conference), prepared for a big meeting that takes place the week after next, held a PhD supervision, and drank lots of tea.

Back at home Mr hazelh hosted the last day of the visit of the undergraduates from Aberdeen. They should now be safely back home in the studentland of the north.

Exercise today: morning running loops in 29'55", sit-ups, weights and stretches and a bit of walking (7,028 steps) Xiii.
