Caldey Island

The only blue sky in Britain today?

Spotting a surprisingly favourable forecast for Pembrokeshire, we headed off to the coastal town of Tenby, where we then caught a short ferry over to Caldey Island for the day.

Now home to a group of Cistercian monks, it has been an island of religious importance for over a 1,000 years.

During the summer it is also a tourist draw, offering pleasant walks around the island and glimpses of monastic life.

And yes, the monks really are on Facebook!
