Died in vain?

Telephone poles. 
Hundreds of them in this storage yard. 
Who knows how long they've been there, or what the text on the end of them means. 
Do they have a best before date? 
Or are they doomed to rot where they lie as cell phones negate the need for poles. 
These, and even more irrelevant questions, are still to ponder.
