Choosing solitude
Intent on patterns colours
Independent girl

I did have a better day today.  This is Sakura who is seven.  She spends some time each year in Japan with her mothers family.  She appears to  slip between the two cultures with ease.  At the beginning of the year she asked if she could sit in this spare desk at the back of the classroom.  I have let her do that and each time she comes I put her materials there.  She has friends but just likes to work on her own.  Today she is applying dye to her picture about Rotorua.  She is working on the section showing Lake Rotorua.  There is a little stream that has come from a spring and is leading into the lake.  She has used some koru (spiral) patterns to show the  waves on the lake.  I think all the pictures are going to look fabulous.
