An Artist's Life

The Metcalf

This is one of the large ponds on the Lee Metcalf Wildlife Refuge, which was established in 1964 in the Bitterroot Valley floodplain near Stevensville. It's a great place for wildlife observation, fishing, photography, education and interpretation. It's forest, wetlands and riparian habitat that is home to such a diverse population of birds, fish and wildlife such as eagles, herons, hawks, geese, ducks, swans, deer, elk, etc. and most of it is accessible for wheelchairs and other handicapped users. Truly a treasure.
