Was It Really So Long Ago

A Statement by Britain in Europe

Carefully stored for over 40 years, this pamphlet provides key information on why a YES vote is the right one of the country. It is produced by the campaign group 'Britain in Europe' and puts forward amongst other points:

It makes good sense for our jobs and prosperity
It makes good sense for world peace
It makes good sense for the Commonwealth
It makes good sense for our children's futures

It continues with assertions that our friends want us to stay in: the United States wants us to stay in, the other members of the European Community want us to stay in, the Commonwealth want us to stay in.

According to the President, Roy Jenkins:

"I Believe that both the security and prosperity of the country depend on a Yes vote. Not to have gone into Europe would have been a misfortune. But to come out would be on an altogether greater scale of self-inflicted injury. It would be a catastrophe. It would leave us weak and disregarded, both economically and politically."

Why can't we go it alone?

Our Traditions are safe

Staying in protects our jobs

Bizarrely, the alternatives to voting in seem to include some of the out campaigners promoting Britain becoming part of the Soviet bloc - a communist Britain!!

That aside, deja vu anyone?
