Kingsbury Water Park (Friday June 10th 2016)

I journeyed up to the Midlands yesterday to meet up with the Spotlight Kid. We had lunch as usual at the the Dog and Doublet canalside pub in Bodymoor Heath and then walked along the towpath to Kingsbury Water Park for the annual visit to our parents' memorial oak bench, which has a view over a lake with an island that is home to families of black-headed gulls, common terns and swans. Nearby were some young coot chicks. There are plenty of Canada geese at the Water Park and two proud parents were parading these goslings besides Broomey Croft Pool.

Before we met up I had walked a new stretch of the Birmingham and Fazeley Canal, from the entrance beside the start of Lichfield Road in Curdworth, in both directions. I also called at Middleton Pool after the Spotlight Kid had left for home, as I had last year.

The return journey was broken by a very pleasant hour spent in Stratford upon Avon. I parked outside the Swan's Head pub which is right by the Avon and is just a short walk to the Bancroft canal basin and to the RSC theatre. It is very easy to fire off a lot of chocolate box touristy shots in any direction, which as an occasional visitor is exactly what I do. If I lived there I would have to be rather more discriminatory. I found a swan below the tramway bridge looking after half-a-dozen cute cygnets.

I will post the albums for this trip when they're ready, but I am trying to blip at least close to the actual day, which means they haven't been made yet.
