Quantum Leap

I had to go into Shrewsbury today to get a new sleeping bag for the folk festivals that are looming. It turned very wet and I should have had more sense than to stand at the bus stop rather than go to the bus station as I was continually splashed from the vehicles going past.

This is Quantum Leap (also known as The Slinky) which is a sculpture by the River Severn. It's in honour of Charles Darwin and was erected for his bi-centenary as he was born in the town. It caused a lot of controversy at the time as the estimated cost was £200,000 but the actual cost was almost a million (in 2009). Many people thought it a great waste of money.
