Indigo Bunting

I'm certainly not a nature photographer, but how often do you see an Indigo Bunting, a bird usually featured in bird books.   It was my first time.  Today we arrived onto the Blue Ridge Parkway near Waynesville and drove north, stopping at some of the overlooks to admire the morning views.  I spotted this bird and zoomed in as much as I could.  This image is cropped considerably for a better look at the bird.

At one point, we took two hours and hiked along one of the many trails, enjoying the fresh mountain air and the sound of the burbling brook along side the trail for a time.  Later we arrived in the beautiful town of Brevard, home of a summer music festival that we have attended in the past.  We stopped for coffee, parking (coincidently next to a coffee roaster.  Not selling the liquid, the proprietor recommended a splendid bakery down the street where we enjoyed our beverage of choice.  There, they recommended a place for lunch (Magpie), before making the 5+ hour trip back to the coast and home.
