South Coast Scribblings

We had a very long drive around Cumbria (Lake District) today. Lunch in Kendal, cup of tea at Ambleside looking over Lake Windermere, shopping at Keswick (to buy food for a picnic and where I saw Richard Madeley walk by talking away on his mobile phone! I saw on a poster that he was there with Judy to do an evening talk about his new book which is based in the Lake District).

We had our picnic in Glenridding sitting looking over the river. They are still rebuilding the destruction caused by the floods just before Christmas last year, but most shops and cafes have re-opened. The Tourist Information is still in a mobile unit, as the back wall of their stone building is bowing over the river.

We then had a long drive back to the holiday house, via Ullswater, and got back about 8.30pm. I was so tired that I didn't even look at the photos and fell asleep on the settee! It had been a day of wonderful scenery and a lot of sunshine and warmer temperatures.

Apologies for lack of comments, due to long days and Wimbledon viewing!
