The Best Laid Plans ...

It was our intention to visit the Redwings Animal Sanctuary at Glenogil this afternoon, so after lunch in Forfar we headed over that way - only to discover it was closed!!  I managed to photograph a few of the ponies and a couple of donkeys in their fields, but was disappointed not to see them closer.

Nothing daunted, we continued on a mystery tour of the Angus hills and ended up at The Caterthuns (Brown and White), which are Iron Age hill forts.  My new blue shoes had a good christening when I climbed the steep hill in them and this view is looking over to the Brown Caterthun.  Spotted some lovely wild orchids by the path (see Extras).  

Some imagination is needed at the top of the hill, as all that is left is a circular ring of rubble (see Extras), but the helpful sign explained it all.
