Broadstairs took me straight back to childhood. There was that lovely seaside sound of muffled squeals in the distance as families just enjoy the fun of the beach. Nothing quite like that sound.
We came here 40 odd years ago on days out with crab paste sandwiches and flasks of tea, getting very sunburnt in the days before parents knew any better. The place still has a kind of old fashioned charm, with a curve of those yellow and blue built in beach huts.
A sandwich lunch at the bandstand cafe, where they provide covers to stop the seagulls from swooping down on your food. This didn't stop one eagle eyed gull snatching my tuna sarnie in a masterful manoeuvre, just as soon as I removed the cover!
Home much later after a hot and slow journey on the M1. Shame about work tomorrow! .
