Cool in the Shade

Another scorching day on the Canal-du-Midi. After a quiet overnight stay moored up in the middle of nowhere, Immy and I (Chris) were up at 8am for a run down the towpath and back. It was great when we were in the shadow of the trees but a lot hotter in the sun, even at that time of day. Still felt good though.

After breakfast, we headed off in the direction of Carcassone. We moored in the town at lunchtime, bought extra provisions, enjoyed a very pleasant ice cream in the town square and then lunched on the roof of the boat. Then we cracked on though a busy collection of locks. A bit of waiting especially through a triple lock section but it's all so relaxing, nothing needs to be hurried.

We moored up again this evening just where we felt like it, another beautiful spot even quieter than yesterday. Much cooking followed, with meat or non meat and pasta options available. We enjoyed dinner on the roof with a selection of wildlife buzzing around. We particularly enjoyed watching the bats.

Here is Rosie, taking a well earned five minutes in the shade in Carcassone.
