Pie

The Gravensteins have come in early this year, which means more pie! And the rhubarb came in late, so they overlap nicely. Can't have pie without whipped cream, but boy it was a quest to find cream this afternoon. The health food store on the corner is the closest choice, but they only had organic, at close to six dollars a pint. No way. In the car to 7/11, but they didn't have any. The Mexican market further down the road had some stuff in a spray can. Okay, I finally went to Trader Joe's. By this time I was possessed. If I'd gone to a big store in the first place it would have taken half the time. But I got the cream, feeling absurdly victorious, whipped it up with a little vanilla and powdered sugar, and had the perfect dessert.
