La vida de Annie

En las carreras de trotones

Took the family to watch the trotting races at the hippodrome tonight. Although the horses are only allowed to trot and not gallop they reach incredible speeds around the track. It was even more dramatic than usual as 3 riders were unseated in different races, and the loose horses were running wild in random directions, a threat to the public as there is only a 3-foot wall around the track. When one woman rider fell, a spectator, pint of lager in hand, leapt the wall to help her without spilling a drop. Another loose horse seemed oblivious to the race having been stopped, and continued to happily do another dozen or so laps all alone (the races are just 3 laps). Despite, or maybe because of this, everyone enjoyed the event and quite a few bets were won.
