But, then again . . . . .

Saint Helen’s Church.

On one of the hottest days of the year, the four of us took a stroll along the banks of the River Thames from Culham to Abingdon for lunch at the Nag’s Head. The inn is built on an island, also called the Nag’s Head. According to a plaque on the front of the building, the pub is named after the island and the origins of the name are unknown; according to Wikipedia, the pub was named first. Being of a slightly(?) cynical nature, this suggests to me that the pub was also built first.

Be that as it may, the walk offered a tantalising glimpse of Saint Helen’s Church seen through the trees and other buildings.
