Silbury Hill (Saturday 17th September 2016)

Waden Hill lies between Silbury Hill and the West Kennett avenue of sarsen stones that leads to the Avebury temple system. I regularly drive past Silbury Hill on the A4 and often park by the stone avenue on the road to Avebury but it is many years since I have walked up the permissive path that leads from one to the other across Waden Hill, and I had forgotten the view that one gets from the top. I walked up from the stones that were being shared by some cattle and took this picture from the summit. I might have walked nearer but some people were sitting across the path at the point I would have chosen so I turned left into the field behind them far enough so they weren't in the picture.

I didn't notice at the time, but there is a figure at the top of Silbury Hill standing with his arms outstretched. In the eighties one was allowed to walk up to the top and I have picnicked there in the past, but the gradual wear and tear was damaging the structure already weakened by amateur achaeologists in the past and it has long since been prohibited to walk up it unless you are a sheep.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Primal Scream - Come Together (Screamadelica Live) (recorded live, Olympia Grand Hall, Kensington, London, 26 November 2010)
Screamadelica has always been one of my favourite albums and I recently played through a box set of the album, remixes and live performances.
This show, filmed at London's Olympia during the album's 20th anniversary, was the first time that Primal Scream had performed the whole album live and they were accompanied by a brass section and a gospel choir with back projections specially created for the event. I was playing the album of it on this day, and there is a DVD of the whole concert which I have yet to view.
