Life through the lens...

Never too old!

Never too old for a walk along the river bank collecting conkers!
Well we are all just kids at heart, aren't we?
Sorry about today's blip, but when I saw this sign I just knew it had to be.

Taken at Naburn Locks on the river Ouse near York.
The sign actually says:

"  Thanks to your kind donations and volunteer support this 200-year-old structure has been loving restored and will be here for another 200 years."

I don't think I will be around to see it last that  long!

A really beautiful autumn day.
After a walk and a bag full of conkers, we called in at the local pub, The Blacksmiths Arms, for a bowl of French onion soup and cheese toasties.
(Best onion soup I have tasted outside France.)
On the way home we stopped off at Fairbun Ings.
A flock of Pochards were on the lake. Not seen so many all at once before.

The extra photos show the conkers blowing high up in the trees.
My first dragonfly photo of the year.
A beautiful view of the river, sparkling in the sunshine.
Taken from a new bench, put there by the Canal Trust, in memory of Laurie Dews the  "Last of the River Bargemen" and his wife Marion.
The sign said " Stop. Turn round, breath out and simply enjoy the view."

That is certainly what we did today.
