Brimstone

Travelling a couple of hundred miles south has done wonders for the variety of garden butterflies. We are esconced with my in-laws, and their buddleias are crawling with Peacocks, which I haven't seen in West Yorkshire since the springtime. I have some great pictures of those, but this is the first time I've managed to get any sort of image of a Brimstone, so I thought I'd go with that one, even if the white of the flower is a bit too dazzling.

Today's excursion saw us pop over to Thatcham Reedbed Nature Reserve, and we had a nice wander around the lakes , did a spot of geocaching, and bumped into a pair of Holly Blues and a Four-banded Longhorn Beetle on the way.

Later, the Red Kites were circling far over the garden, four together at one point, and a Speckled Bush Cricket visited the roses.

A good start to what will hopefully be a relaxing week.
