The Girl in the Red Coat

For Tiny Tuesday I thought I would recreate the cover of this book.

I always liked the cover and the fact that the tiny broken button suggests so much of the story.

A bit more complicated than I thought but my challenge was to get something usable in less than 20 minutes.  I hadn't planed on adding the text but it seemed a bit empty without it.

So, there are are 5 layers in all.  The base layer is the coat (which is black); then a layer with the little broken button (which is dark grey); then two layers of thread (which was light grey) and finally a layer of text.

I does look a bit rushed but I thought it wasn't too bad.

Anyway its rather a good book - made the Costa shortlist.  But most of all I liked the cover.
