It Was Looking A Bit Black Over Bill's Mother's ..

.. this afternoon not long before I took this shot. So dark in fact that when I went outside with the camera the security light came on. I got some grainy pics of a collared dove on the top of a tree against the storm clouds and then it started raining. I'd hardly got back inside and taken my coat off when beautiful bright rays cut across the garden. I shot this magpie in the ash tree catching the special storm light which is illuminating the Xanthoria lichen too.

I was discussing the saying that I have used for my title with my sister who lives in France the other day. She had seen it mentioned on the BBC website. Peter, who used to help us on the nursery, used it and he was born and bred in Essex, so it isn't just said up North. There are lots of theories about who Bill was. :) http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-37550178
